Ransomware and cyber attacks are increasing each and every day and prove to be extremely disruptive and expensive. Customers are often not prepared for attacks and even if prepared the major loss of data is inevitable. This session will concentrate on how to plan, prepare and test for attacks and discuss what is available now and what integration is coming in the future.

Db2 for z/OS packages – the compiled and executable form of static SQL, and the structural enablers of dynamic SQL – have been around for a LONG time. That said, effective management of packages has become more important in recent years, thanks to things like newer bind options (e.g., APPLCOMPAT, CONCENTRATESTMT), newer availability and concurrency enhancements (e.g., rebind phase–in, autobind phase–in) and newer mechanisms for controlling and enabling package behavior (especially the Db2 profile tables). Learn about all this, and more, in this session.

The session will focus on Db2 13 the invaluable features of the online schema enhancements that can assist DBAs managing their database objects.  Each feature will be explored and discussed in detail on what customer pain point is being addressed, best practices when implementing the features, real life customer experiences.

The IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS(IDAA) has evolved enormously over the last 14 years since its introduction to the DB2 for z/OS world with the result that the IDAA of 2025 is a completely different proposition to customers compared to when it was originally presented to the market back in 2011.
As with many new functions and features of Db2 introduced over the years, it was not love at first with the IDAA, however, it is no longer a stand–alone Netezza appliance with periodic refreshes, limited SQL compatibility and limited use cases.  It is in fact a completely different hardware and software solution with multiple deployment options from IFLs on Z, a z/Linux One machine or even in cloud and it is also a completely new software based on the columnar DB2 BLU DW engine.
What this means for customers is that the IDAA of 2025 with lots more functionality and flexibility has become an extremely interesting and feasible solution to the many challenges that customers are facing from classical Analytical applications to Batch processing and OLTP transactions requiring analytical queries on real–time data.
This presentation will provide a brief overview of the changes to IDAA since its introduction explaining what and how these changes make the IDAA a completely different proposition for customers in 2025.
More importantly, the presentation will provide a technical explanation of how you can perform an assessment of your environment to be able to evaluate the potential benefits of IDAA in your shop, or, if you already have an IDAA, how you can identify new candidates for IDAA processing.
Finally, the presentation will provide tips and insights from real–world use cases highlighting not only the benefits but also the errors to avoid and the potential problems that you may encounter when offloading work to IDAA.

Db2 13 introduced the ability to track execution of IBM Db2 utilities allowing users to gain insight into the performance of the utilities. In this session you will hear how it has been implemented, what information is recorded and when, and some ideas of how the feature can be used to improve your utility processing.

The IBM z platform synergizes with Db2 for z/OS to deliver numerous performance improvements. This session explores key enhancements that optimize system efficiency and reliability when migrating from z14 to z16. It will highlight areas such as CPU Improvement through enhanced memory and zIIP processor utilization, System Recovery Boost, focusing on Middleware Region Start/Restart, and IBM Integrated Accelerator for Z Sort . This session will also cover tools and best practices for monitoring memory usage and zIIP processor performance.

Creating backups of and recovering your data are essential tasks performed by the IBM Db2 utilities.  This presentation will cover the basics – the different types of backups and recovery options – for the COPY, RECOVER, REBUILD INDEX, BACKUP SYSTEM, RESTORE SYSTEM utilities, and more, including a peek at new and future enhancements.

In today's modern applications, workload is increasingly shifting from traditional CICS or IMS transactions to Java workload. As a result, analyzing dynamic queries has become more important than ever before. 
In this presentation, I will demonstrate how to systematically analyze dynamic queries using the Global Dynamic Statement Cache, and how to identify queries that require immediate attention. We will develop a tool that allows SQL developers to analyze dynamic queries in their shop from day one after the conference. This tool is designed to be easily accessible and user–friendly, without requiring access to the mainframe. With it, developers can answer typical questions such as "Which queries performed better or worse within the last 30 days?", "Which of my queries were running at a given time and how did they perform?", and "Which of my queries are getting slower over time?" in a self–service mode. Additionally, we will explore how to translate query tuning results to cash savings, demonstrating the financial benefits of query optimization. By the end of this presentation, you will have a clear understanding of how to uncover and monetize hidden insights by analyzing the Global Dynamic Statement Cache.

Db2 Family Tools Update
In this Db2 family topic we will delve into two key areas of tooling for Db2 LUW including the new and exciting Db2 AI Assistant, leveraging GenAI to bring value to DBAs – and – a common, simplified Db2 data movement tool called Db2 Bridge which will help manage all the different ways in which data can be moved around the Db2 ecosystem.

SQLDI and Db2zAI Update
In this topic two key AI capabilities of Db2 for z/OS will be provided in detail.

Db2 Z Redirected Recovery is a powerful V12 capability of IBM RECOVER utility.  It allows one to recover a Db2 object into another object without impacting the original.  This presentation will review the details of WHAT is redirected recovery, WHY it can be useful, and the scenarios where it might be used.  JCL steps will be detailed along with along with caveats, lessons learned, and some user experiences.

Thinking about your availability and recovery strategy shouldn't give you sleepless nights.  When issues do come up, you want to make sure you have the tools needed to solve problems and ensure you get the most out of your investment in Db2.  This presentation will give you some context and insight into the top questions we see from our customers the most in the areas of backup, restore, crash recovery, locking, logging, transaction management and high availability and disaster recovery.  The questions and answers discussed here could save you when an unexpected outage arises and/or better prepare you to avoid an outage in the future.
